    Rare SHOJI HAMADA Japanese Mingei Autograph picture Tokibi
    Description
    Shoji Hamada was one of the leading ceramic artists of modern Japan.Born in Tokyo in 1894,
    from his teen years he wanted to become a potter.
    Around 1920 he traveled to England with Bernard Leach and started his activities there as a potter.
    After returning to Japan, he wanted to live in the countryside and moved to Mashiko in 1924.
    In 1955, he was designated as the 1st Preserver of Important Intangible
    Cultural Properties (Living National Treasure) and in 1968,
    he got to be the third potter to be awarded the Order of Culture.
    The ceramic works exhibited by me are mainly examples of craft works such as Mashiko ware.
    All works are guaranteed authentic items.
