Antique 19th Century French 950 Sterling Silver Pierced Serving Pieces Spoons

Description

Presented is a great set of three French 950 silver and bovine/cow bone serving pieces. These pieces date to the mid to late 1800s. The set consists of a solid bladed server, a heavily pierced spoon, and a pierced bladed server. The business end of each server is made from French first standard silver, which is a higher purity than sterling 925. The handles are carved from bovine/cow bone, with visible natural graining and crosshatching and a beautiful mellow patina. Each handle is engraved and inked with the initials VG in Gothic script.
Each piece is hallmarked with the French Minerva head purity mark for 950 silver, as well as a maker's mark for Eugene Queille, son of and successor to Pierre Queille, and a French insect Bigorne mark.
These pieces are in great overall condition. All three of the handles have a vertical age line, but the handles are secure and structurally sound. There are no breaks, no chips, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The spoon is about 7 1/2 inches long. Both the other two pieces are about 7 3/4 inches long.
This set weighs 126 grams or 4.4 regular ounces.
