5.75x7.75 Vintage TLS signed at the conclusion in blue ballpoint ink by Michael McCarthy. The letter is dated in 1963 and describes his satisfaction in his business career. Folding creases, otherwise, in good condition.
Michael W. McCarthy, a former chairman of Merrill Lynch & Co., who helped expand that brokerage firm into a global enterprise. He also served for a time as a governor of the New York and American Stock Exchanges. Mr. McCarthy worked his way up from a bookkeeper in an Oakland grocery business to become Merrill Lynch's president in 1959 and then chairman of the company two years later, presiding over what was the biggest American brokerage firm in a period of rapid domestic and foreign expansion.
