On the first page Van Kirk signs "Theodore 'Dutch' Van Kirk , Navigator-Enola Gay, Hiroshima 6 Aug 1945" Van Kirk writes entirely in his hand: "Page 223, states that: "on June 1945, they expected to hear the explosion of the first atomic bomb" But our crew delivered the first atomic bomb from the Enola Gay only on August 6th, 1945. We dropped the first bomb on Hiroshima. Interesting book, however, it ends in July 1945. Just before describing the main event, our atomic bomb drop over Hiroshima and its consequences."
