Vintage 2x3 B&W photograph signed in blue ink by William P. Thompson. In very good condition.
While the civil rights movement raged in the 1960s, William P. Thompson, who held the position of stated clerk of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A., put himself in the middle of the conflict and marched throughout the South against discrimination.
Two decades later, Mr. Thompson worked with Rev. James E. Andrews, his counterpart in the southern stream of the church, to help mend a rift that occurred during the Civil War and that had separated the Northern churches from those in the South.
